All I would tell people is to hold onto what was individual about themselves, not to allow their ambition for success to cause them to try to imitate the success of others. You’ve got to find it on your own terms.
So says Harrison Ford of Indiana Jones fame.

This quote reminds me of my second “real job” out of college. I was analyzing bank credits for First Union(laterWachovia, now Wells Fargo) and a hotshot credit analyst rising star was teaming up with me. Well, I wanted to cut and paste comments from a previous analysis. He said, “You do what you want. As for me, I’m not putting my name on anything that isn’t what I think is going on. It’s your name, after all.” Once I got over my embarrasment AND my jealousy over this guy’s “celebrity”, I went on and put my name on my own stuff. I was promoted three times and now am really writing my own stuff. Kudos to Harrison Ford; this is good advice.
