Want to feel more energized and less stressed? Perhaps you spend a lot of time in front of the computer screen, the TV or some other screen. Here are a few ways to feel energized.
The most obvious is to stop spending so much time in front of a screen. OK, not always practical.
So get up during commercials or every half hour and stretch.
In fact, get up and do some aerobic exercise, even just for 30 seconds. Jumping jacks. Dance. Fast-paced push-ups. Skip rope. Anything.
Every few minutes move your eyes away from the screen. Roll your eyes up, to the left, to the right, but most importantly, focus them on something closer and also on something farther than the screen.
Force a yawn. Stretching your face will boost that energy and reduce that stress.
Energize!

I’m always in front of the computer 8-10 hrs a day and whats worst is that I’m on night shift so image the feeling of sleepiness and being tired at the same time. This tips are surely worth trying.

Very good tips. I tend to forget to move my eyes away from the computer screen. Thank you for reminding me how important it is to do my eyes exercises. I use a software called “Vision Defense.” When it beeps I know that it is time to move my eyes away from the screen for a few seconds.

Very good advice. In addition, I firmly believe that we should all take regular breaks from the computer screen by for example making a drink 3/4 times a day. It doesn’t matter how busy work may be, our long term health has to have time invested in it also.

thanx buddy.
All tips are very helpful specially people like us working whole day on computer only.
Anyways as I have started my job just 6 months back, I soon realize that it makes me very tired.
but someone told me some other tips, and I implemented it, and get many benifits.
SO WANT TO SHARE WITH U ALL…
(1) rotate neck at every half n hour.
(2) As we site on chair with folded legs, our knee joints jam, so just do up-n-down your legs folding from knee.
(3) Very Important : “DO DHYAN N MEDITATION 1 HOUR/DAY”
Have a happy healthy day..

Yes the screen can really make your eyes tiered. And it’s true just half a minute helps.

If only I could get away with that at work while I stare at a monitor throughout the day.

Let me tell you guys my experience. I use to never exercise and just stare at the computer and never be in a good mood. After my friends convince me to go to the gym with them 9 months ago, I have never felt better and my mood is way better. I am telling you guys your body needs exercise so I hope everyone starts to exercise.

I completely agree that our bodies need to exercise. I felt the changes myself, after I started working out regularly, three times a week. I woke up easier in the morning, slept better, felt more happy and alive, and of course thinner, which is always a plus.
But I still have to spend at least 6 hours per day in front of the computer, as this is what I do for a living. But if I keep doing some exercising, I think I’ll be fine.

Thank you for tips! I use kettlebells for destress. After an hour of work I just step out and do ten/fifteen minutes of swings or snatches. If the weather is trushy I open the window and do just right there - those don’t take up much room.
Best regards,
Ugis

Great advice. I take a mid-afternoon nap every day just to get the blood pumping and get some fresh air. Its an easy plan to stick with.

This is so very true- our modern way of life is out of snyc with our actual needs. Our bodies are simply not meant to sit there most of the day as we pile processed foods and sugars into it! The good news is that exercise gives you more energy and you feel elated and more able to exercise!
I’d advise anyone who’s really unfit to start with walking, then fast walking and find a group activity which is physically demanding but fun.

Thank you for letting me know about this. I actually never thought about getting off the couch in between commercials and exercising. It has really made a difference.
Keep the suggestions coming.

Our instinct has basically not changed any during the 10,000 years becuase we did not meet the drastic conditions required for mutation.

Thanks. That really helped. Though the thought of doing jumping jacks in my office makes me smile, which relieves more stress than anything else.

Taking a walk during the day really makes a difference too, and taking the time to notice all the beauty around us- no matter where we are. A beautiful flower, the clouds in the sky, a smiling face! There is beauty all around us, we just need to look!
I get a lot of my exercise done when I’m watching TV too- I do my sit-ups and lunges during the commercials, or even during the show! Only problem is my puppy thinks it’s play time when I do this- but that makes me smile too:)

Having just started a part-time deskjob, I can definitely relate to the need to energize during the day. Staring at a computer screen and being on the phone for 8 hours can be a real drain, so it’s great to get up and walk about, get some fresh air and hey, maybe even get some exercise! It’s good to see this post, as I think a lot of people need to take this sort of advice on board, and get more active. Myself included.

Well, it seems people are more to computers these days. Gazing at the screen most of the time because you can’t get up. It is as if you are glued to the screen. Very hard to avoid it.
But I find a very good way like keep looking at things outside the screen every minute or around 15 to 20 seconds. And that will allow the eyelids to blink preventing it from drying out. Or use a self lubricating drops.
